Sage 50 U.S. + your store

Sage 50 ecommerce integration

CartSpan® posts your Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento and other web orders into Sage 50 U.S. as invoices or sales orders, on its own. It checks Sage 50 for stock changes every minute and starts sending any it finds to your store. When an order’s lines don’t add up to what the customer paid, it holds that order and tells you.

  • Sage 50 U.S. 2024 or newer
  • Orders as often as every 15 min
  • Stock checked every minute
  • Shopify Payments payouts reconciled
  • $495, then $299 a year from year two
  • Any number of orders
  • No QODBC needed

Sage Tech Partner CartSpan is built by a Sage Technology Partner.

CartSpan’s Control Panel: Orders and Stock panels with their schedules and 7-day bars, an Inbox line saying Shopify payouts can post, and green connection lights for the store, Sage 50 and the database.

What lands in Sage 50

The documents you’d key by hand, done the way your accountant would.

Wholesale and retail through one store?

On your store

A retail buyer pays by card. A wholesale customer orders 40 units on account.

  • Wholesale: a sales order on Net 30, their own customer, the right sales rep

Pick list

The pick list reaches the warehouse before the office reads the order.

As each web order posts to Sage 50, CartSpan can email a PDF pick list to one or two addresses you name, in the same minute. It carries what only the store knew.

  • Sorted for one walk. Lines come in stock-location order, each with its own barcode, a checkbox and a Picked box.
  • What the customer typed. The size and color they chose, under the item. Their note (“Receiving closes at 3 pm”) in a box the picker can’t miss.
  • Ship-by and carrier up front. The store’s ship-by date and ship-via, large, with the order number as a barcode.
  • A red banner when something is off. An order that CartSpan’s fraud rules flagged says so, and why, before it ships.
  • On a phone first. The email itself says who, by when, how, and how many lines. The PDF is attached for the printer.
  • Kept and resendable. Every pick list is saved for 90 days, unless you change that, and can be re-sent from CartSpan.
  • Nothing to install. CartSpan draws the PDF itself: no barcode font, no add-on, no form design.

Stock from Sage 50

Sage 50 decides what your store shows.

  • Every minute, CartSpan checks Sage 50 for items whose stock changed and starts sending only those. Kits counted from their parts, and a few other stock options, update on your scheduled refresh instead. How stock updates work →
  • Quantity available, not on hand: stock minus open sales orders.
  • Assemblies show how many you could build from available parts.
  • Many store SKUs can point at one Sage 50 item, so variants and marketplace listings all follow it.

Shopify Payments

Payouts that match the bank.

Each Shopify Payments payout posts into Sage 50 as one deposit equal to the bank line, with Shopify’s actual fees, refunds as credit memos that reverse tax by agency, and reserves, Shopify Capital and transfers flagged for you to enter.

Sage 50, for the long haul

Your desktop accounting isn’t going anywhere, and neither are we.

  • Sage 50 U.S. 2024 or newer. You don’t have to be on this year’s version to connect your store.
  • Sage still sells Sage 50 desktop, currently version 2026, and has announced no end for it (Sage, checked October 13, 2026).
  • Building for desktop books since 2007, with the build for each new Sage 50 year included in maintenance.

  • CartSpan customers also run it at Summit Hosting and Ace Cloud Hosting, at no extra cost.
  • Sage’s own Sage 50 Cloud runs only seven Sage-approved add-ons, such as sales tax and payment processing; no store integration is on the list, including CartSpan (Sage knowledge base, checked October 13, 2026).
  • CartSpan is a Windows program beside your books, and that computer needs to be on. After a restart, open CartSpan again and it picks up where it left off.

Which Sage 50 versions work?

Sage 50 U.S. 2024 or newer: Pro, Premium and Quantum.

Does it work with Sage 50 Cloud?

Sage’s own Sage 50 Cloud runs only seven Sage-approved add-ons, such as sales tax and payment processing; no store integration is on the list, including CartSpan (Sage knowledge base, checked October 13, 2026). CartSpan customers run it beside Sage 50 at third-party hosts such as Summit Hosting and Ace Cloud Hosting.

Invoice or sales order?

Your choice, by customer group or payment method: for example, a paid invoice for retail and a sales order on Net 30 for wholesale.

Do Shopify Payments payouts match the bank?

Yes: one deposit per payout, equal to the bank line, with Shopify’s actual fees and refunds handled.

Does CartSpan print pick lists, or do I still use Sage’s?

Both work; CartSpan’s goes further for web orders. As each order posts, CartSpan emails a PDF pick list to one or two addresses you choose. Lines are sorted by stock location, each with a barcode. It also carries the options the customer picked, their note, the ship-by date and carrier, and a fraud banner when the order needs a second look. A copy is kept for 90 days and can be re-sent from CartSpan. Sage’s own form is still there if you prefer to print from Sage. See a sample

Does Sage 50 need anything extra?

No. Unlike QuickBooks Pro and Premier, Sage 50 needs no QODBC license.
